Welcome to Olga's York Guesthouse
Whether staying in York on holiday or on business Olga’s
offers guests traditional Yorkshire values of hospitality, comfort
and good locally sourced food. Our breakfasts are possibly the
best in York & North Yorkshire.
Families, small groups, and pets are welcome to enjoy our facilities
and services. We provide an Honesty Bar and lounge with a small
library and games for the enjoyment of all our guests. Tea &
Coffee facilities are always on hand for the weary traveller.
The Guesthouse was originally commissioned as accommodation for
officers of the cavalry in the late 1800’s and still maintains
many of the original features from that era. E.g. ornate corniced
ceilings, marble fireplaces, mosaic tiled hallway, stained glass
internal doors, and original staircase and newel post.
The British army has been in the area since the 1700’s
and although the original Cavalry Barracks now houses York Police
Headquarters, the army are still only a few yards down the road
at the Imphal Barracks.
Our guesthouse is perfectly located in a quiet street off the
busy main A19 Fulford Road and is within a 10 to 20 minute walk
(depending upon your age) into York City centre along a pleasant
Riverside Esplanade. (for the not so agile, there is a frequent
bus service to the city Centre from the top of the street). It
is approximately a 10 to 15 minute walk to the University of York,
or the York Racecourse on the opposite side of the river ouse
via the new millennium bridge.
We are just a short drive from all major roads out of the city
and within easy access to the North Yorkshire moors and Yorkshire
dales.
Itineries and maps are always available as a bonus to all visitors.
